“Horse Soldiers” tells the story of the Special Forces soldiers who the first on the ground in Afghanistan in 2001. While fighting with the Northern Alliance, they walked and often rode on horseback across northern Afghanistan. In a short time they achieved several battlefield victories against the Taliban. They also did what was unthinkable for the last 80 or so years, and something new in Special Forces annuals - a Calvary charge.
This book was written based on interviews and public sources and on the ground visits to the various battle sites by the author. He also has a pretty good appreciation of the various players involved in this drama.
